Welcome to The Bookhenge!

7 02 2009

Interested in the latest and greatest according to the country’s top teen readers? That’s right, the award-winning Eva Perry Public Library Mock Printz Club (just recognized with YALSA’s MAE Award for Best Teen Literature Program) passes along their short list to the teachers of NC State U’s graduate class, “Learning Through Literature with Young Adults.” We’re reading and responding to these texts (and the official Printz winners for 2009) in this blog.

Thanks in advance for your responses to our work. It feels a little risky to publish the contents of our hearts and minds like this but we’re learning new literacies, exploring our creativity, and jumping right in to this participatory culture.

So enjoy our book blogs/bookcasts and join us and the Eva Perry teens on Feb. 23 at 5 pm ET for the 2009 Melinda Awards. We’ll present the books that receive our awards and have a lot of fun in the process. Our live program will be streamed real-time in Second Life on USDLC’s beautiful Star Island. Dress up and come talk with us about the best books of 2009 — IMHO 😉 Visit www.Literacy2Learn.org for all the details.  Preview previous programs archived on NC DPI’s TeenReadNC.
